Organic Cranberry Beans

from $7.00

Cranberry beans, also known as Barlotti or Roman beans, are a popular bean for stews and soups. They cook up to a plump pink bean which retains a faint pattern.

We grew Cranberry beans interplanted with grain sorghum, inspired by the Indigenous practice of planting "the three sisters," providing a living trellis for the beans. While Cranberry beans are technically a bush style bean, they do appreciate the extra support during the growing season. They benefit even more at harvest time, when the beans have dried down and use the standing sorghum plants to stay upright.

Grown by Meadowlark Organics in Ridgeway, WI as part of a diverse rotation. Certified Organic by NICS.

A portion of the proceeds from all bean and corn sales will be donated to Ohe·láku,a nonprofit made up of Oneida families relearning how to grow traditional White Corn together. Learn more here.

Pick through beans carefully!
The quality of beans we grew in 2024 was our best yet, but for a few reasons out of our control, we saw more "foreign material” make it into the combine.  It’s important to pick through these beans for any small rocks and bits of soil that have snuck past our cleaners.  We are working on adding sorting machines that can clean the beans more effectively in years like this. In the meantime we thank you for your understanding!
