Who We Are
Meadowlark Community Mill is a stone mill, channeling organic grain grown by Meadowlark Organics and other Driftless Region farmers into the culinary market. Our sister business, Meadowlark Organics, is a diversified organic grain farm which grows and purchases, cleans and then sells grain to our flour mill.
Stone milling is a simple and elegant method of producing flour, which retains the integrity of the whole grain. We pride ourselves in milling flour which is as flavorful and aromatic as it is nutritious. Our wholesale partners range from grocery stores and co-ops, to bakeries and restaurants, to retailers and home bakers.
This is important work that contributes to the foundation of our region’s grain economy. As a Delivery Driver, you will come to know the intricacies and value of grain as a staple crop and food.
Who We’re Seeking
We are looking for someone who brings a positive attitude, a willingness to collaborate, a commitment to create the highest quality products possible, and a desire to be a part of strengthening our regional grain value chain.
You are an excellent driver, capable of operating large, heavy vehicles. You enjoy interacting with a broad range of customers, providing excellent service as our primary representative to wholesale customers. You are capable of lifting 50lb bags repeatedly throughout the day, and enjoy solitary time focused on completing a route efficiently.
Responsibilities:
Drive our weekly routes from our farm & mill in Ridgeway, WI within a 150 mile radius
Fill vehicles with fuel before departure and monitor levels on the road, refueling as needed.
Keep a Delivery Log of arrival and departure times for internal records
Load and unload pallets of grain into bakeries, restaurants, and other wholesale partners, representing the business with positivity and consideration
Communicate any mispicks, damaged bags, and customer feedback to Head Miller in a timely manner
Be capable of making adjustments if needed in the event of inclement weather
Desired Qualifications / Skills / Experience:
Valid license, and an excellent driving record
Capable of lifting 50lb objects (bags of flour) as well as execution of other physical tasks, repeatedly
Confidence driving in densely populated areas including Milwaukee and Chicago
Interest in organic, regional supply chains
Work Environment:
Long days on the road with frequent delivery stops
Collaborative, supportive team dynamic
Wages and Benefits:
This is an hourly position that starts at $18, DOE.
We guarantee quarterly evaluations with potential for wage increases.

Being a miller is a manufacturing job and a craft. It is inherently repetitive and simple, but it is a critical job that requires attentive observation and adjustments. The nuances of flour milling with natural stones provides an opportunity to learn valuable skills that have no ceiling in terms of mastery. The job can be loud, physically challenging, solitary, and dusty. It is likewise creative, meaningful, flexible, and engaging.
Responsibilities:
Independently operating stone mill(s)
Operating an electric forklift
Maintaining accurate records
Communicating openly and effectively with coworkers and managers
Assisting with retail packaging production and order fulfillment
Following cleaning and maintenance procedures
Desired Qualifications / Skills / Experience:
Ability to work alone and stay engaged
Capable of lifting 50lb objects (bags of flour) as well as execution of other physical tasks, repeatedly
Commitment to learning new skills
Understanding the “bigger picture” and the role the mill plays in our regional grain economy
Interest in the end uses of stone milled flour (baking and pastry), grain and beans
Work Environment:
Dust from flour mills requires wearing a respirator

Wages and Benefits:
This hourly position begins at $20/hr.
We guarantee an annual 3% cost-of-living raise, and quarterly evaluations with potential for wage increases.
